Discovering the Magical World of Renoir

My name is Pierre-Auguste Renoir, the Painter of Happiness. Do you know why they call me so? If you take a close look at my paintings, you will find the atmosphere in my drawings is carefree, sensual and festive. I wanted to depict people´s happiness, the beauty of women, the innocence of childhood, idyllic landscapes, and I accomplished it! Despite some economic problems and the debilitating disease I suffered, neither a trace of sadness, nor despair ever found a way into my work. Do you want to find out if this is true? Pierre-Auguste Renoir is considered one of the most outstanding artists in the History of art. Although he is known as an Impressionist artist, he was part of this movement for only 12 years. The way he painted, oblivious to any method or style, was a constant quest to express the joy of living. He was a modest, kindhearted man, and had an endless stamina. His life is an example of optimism and tenacity, and his legacy, a true hymn to happiness.
